Tufts Medical Students Go Above & Beyond for the ARLGP

JohnAndCoco_editedOver the past three months we have had the pleasure of working with John Daggett and Coco Nichols, both Tufts Medical students in their residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

This motivated duo approached us in January with an interest in helping us collect donations of food and supplies. They both hail from Maine with a love of animals. As part of a school community service project, they wanted to support a local animal shelter from their home state. We happily gave them the go-ahead, and couldn’t be happier with their result.

Through John and Coco’s outreach efforts to local and national pet companies, they have collected over 800 pounds of pet food, 1 ton of cat litter, and boxes of toys, treats, and supplies for the ARLGP. We’d like to give a big shout-out and put our paws in the air to FreeKibble.com & Halo, Oxbow, Blue Buffalo, Tropiclean, Natural Balance, Easycorn Litter, Wellness, Zuke’s Treats, Iams, and Kong for their very generous donations. We also want to thank the Dog Wash Inc. in Portland for being a drop-off location for many of these donations over the past four months.

JohnAndCoco1John and Coco went above and beyond to support our shelter animals. Aside from securing donations, they have held three community outreach events at Maine Medical Center to help us spread our shelter mission. They also assisted in expanding our satellite adoption locations throughout Greater Portland, to make adopted cats more visible at community locations. We couldn’t save over 4,000 lives a year without the support of community members like John and Coco. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, with lots of tail wags and purrs!
