Portland Whole Foods Market Customers Donate Supplies Worth $24,000!

Over the course of 2014 we received an astounding $24,000 worth of donations from our Portland Whole Foods Market (WFM) customers! The Portland WFM Feed Pets Now program began in 2011 and has grown tremendously over the past 4 years. Feed Pets Now is featured in the register lines and in the pet isle at our local Portland WFM, for customers to purchase for donation if they wish while they check-out. WFM collects all of the donations daily and stores them in their warehouse for our volunteers to pick-up twice a week.

Items in the Feed Pets Now program vary greatly- from canned cat food and dog bones, to canned pumpkin and probiotics. Each item purchased and donated helped the ARLGP care for nearly 4,000 homeless and displaced animals last year. Check out some of our 2014 item quantities below and how these items made an impact on the care and treatment of our animals!

  • A whopping 6,600 cans of Whole Paws cat food provided meals for 150 felines for 44 days
  • 370 jars of Whole Foods 365 peanut butter helped us create enrichment toys and pup-sicles for canines in our care
  • 411 boxes of dog biscuits provided positive reinforcement for dog training and yummy treats for snack time
  • 47 jugs of cat litter helped us clean more than 150 litter boxes

We can’t thank our Portland Whole Foods Market and their customers enough. We are so thankful to be in a community of animal lovers and advocates. If you donated to the ARLGP through the Feed Pets Now program, please accept our warmest (and tail-wagging) thank you.
